Madagascar is an unspoilt island with an untouched reef system, palm- shaded white sandy beaches and turquoise waters.

Be it diving with sea turtles, eagle rays, manta rays, surgeon fish, barracuda, and even humpback whales, it is the ultimate diving getaway just a few hours away.

For the night diving enthusiasts, Nosy Be offers the most incredible “fluro diving”, allowing the diver to see a spectacle of different colours not normally revealed.

The Diving

The house reef of Nosy Sakatia is 400 meters from Sakatia Lodge and over a kilometre long. It is not only excellent for scuba diving, but also for snorkelling. Some snorkel spots and beaches are best visited with a pirogue (a traditional dug out boat).

There are more than 20 dive sites around Sakatia island, ranging from 1-15km from the lodge. Each dive site has a large variety of hard and soft corals, tropical reef fish, nudibranchs, pygmy pipe hoses, table top corals, with an average depth of 18m.

Sakatia its self has a house reef over a kilometre long and just 400m from the lodge allowing the perfect location for snorkelling. Here you will be able to swim with the green turtle, diverse species of fish as well as the beautiful different colours of coral. Snorkelling gear is available at the lodge free of charge.

Fluro diving is also available as a night dive – Advanced certification is required.

Qualifications

With an average depth of 18m, Madagascar’s diving is perfect for the Open Water diver. However to get the most out of the trip, we would recommend divers be Advanced qualified with their Night diver and Nitrox specialty.

Fluro is also available on the night dives, so divers are recommended to have their own UV torch.
